PBIS

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based school-wide approach that helps create a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment for all students. The goal of PBIS is to teach and encourage positive behaviors—just like we teach academic skills—so students know what is expected of them and can be successful at school.
Through PBIS, our school:
  • Clearly defines and teaches school-wide expectations
  • Recognizes and celebrates positive behavior.
  • Provides support and interventions when students need extra help.
  • Works as a team (teachers, staff, families, and students) to build a safe and respectful school community.

PBIS isn’t just about rules—it’s about building strong relationships, encouraging responsibility, and helping every student feel valued and ready to learn. PBIS allows parents/guardians and teachers to have open communication about what is expected in all areas of the school. Our school's behavioral expectations center on the ideas of the Lobo Group Plan. Even though Lobo Elementary School takes a leading role in the PBIS program, its success is dependent upon the support of parents, families, and the surrounding community.
